3、 Calculation method of grain steel silo capacity

The main function of grain steel silo is to store grain as a storage container. In general, before design and planning, considering the requirements of total storage capacity and available site, cooperate with reasonable process flow to determine the appropriate silo specification and model. This paper expounds the calculation method of steel silo capacity. Silo storage capacity includes total storage capacity and effective storage capacity. The total storage capacity refers to the total storage capacity in the silo, and the effective storage capacity refers to the storage capacity of the material part. The effective storage capacity is also related to the type of materials stored, and the static angle of different types of materials is different. General customers care about the effective storage capacity, that is, what kind of materials and how many tons can be stored in the silo.

To calculate the effective capacity of the silo, firstly, according to the two different discharge modes of the silo, the silo is divided into flat bottom steel plate silo and cone bottom steel plate silo. The effective bin capacity is also related to the bin top angle (D1 °) and the static angle of materials (D2 °). It is divided into the following four types for calculation.

1、 When the static angle (D2 °) ≤ the silo top angle (D1 °), the stacking height of grain on the silo wall of flat bottom steel silo is 300mm from the eaves. The effective storage capacity is (V1 + V2).

2、 When the static angle (D2 °) > the silo top angle (D1 °), the highest part of the material pile of the flat bottom steel silo is 500mm away from the center of the silo top. The effective storage capacity is (V1 + V2).

3、 When the static angle (D2 °) ≤ the silo top angle (D1 °), the stacking height of grain on the silo wall of cone bottom steel silo is 300mm from the eaves. The effective storage capacity is (V1 + V2).

4、 When the static angle (D2 °) > the silo top angle (D1 °), the highest part of the material pile of the cone bottom steel silo is 500mm away from the center of the silo top. The effective storage capacity is (V1 + V2).

To sum up, only by knowing what kind of silo is, can the effective silo capacity of the silo be accurately calculated.

In addition, the weight of materials that can be stored in the silo is directly proportional to the bulk density of stored materials. Some experts have studied that the materials in the silo have a certain compaction coefficient. Generally, the compaction coefficient is about 6%, that is, the standard bulk density of the materials is increased by 6%.
